SAN DIEGO INDIVISIBLE PROTESTS REPUBLICAN WAR ON WOMEN
SAN DIEGO – The Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress continue to propose policies that hurt women. They would defund Planned Parenthood; deprive female employees of insurance for affordable birth control if their bosses object; replace evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention with ineffective abstinence programs; cut Title X services that prevent 1 million unintended pregnancies per year; cut USAID family planning for poor women abroad; cut support for the WHO’s “Let Girls Learn” initiative; and more. Congressional Republicans, such as Reps. Darrell Issa (CA-49) and Duncan Hunter (CA-50), should oppose this war on women.

Awareness of sexual harassment and assault is sweeping the nation through the #MeToo social media campaign. It underscores the prevalence of predatory behaviors attributed to Harvey Weinstein, Bill O’Reilly and others. But Rep. Darrell Issa has yet to apologize for his enthusiastic support of a Republican presidential nominee who publicly harassed women and privately boasted of sexual assault. Issa also voted against the Fair Pay Act and a commonsense gun safety law to protect victims of domestic violence from their abusers. He repeatedly supported health care legislation that undercut basic reproductive health services and did not treat health care during pregnancy as an essential benefit. District 49 voters say NO to Issa’s war on women.
