Time to say Kava-heck-no

From Indivisible East Bay and Indivisible Illinois:

Understanding that the news is all Russia right now, but we still want to continue the pressure for Kavanaugh’s documents. Click HERE for topline points that break it all down.

The main point: The Senate should NOT schedule a hearing for Kavanaugh until his 1 MILLION+ pages of White House documents are released.

In case useful, a few types of tweets that would be great to get out there:

• We deserve to see all one million documents from Kavanaugh’s time as a political lawyer before he’s even considered for the Supreme Court!

• I remember the Bush administration – and I want to know, exactly, what Kavanaugh worked on. Was he working on policy around torture, indefinite detention, military commissions, and warrantless wiretapping?

• Republicans insisted on all of Kagan’s documents from the Clinton White House before confirmation hearings. Republicans and Democrats should require the same level of transparency with Kavanaugh’s nomination.  We agree with Senator Sessions’ statement from May 24, 2010, that “The public record of a nominee to such a lifetime position as Justice on the Supreme Court is of such importance that we cannot go forward without these documents.”

We know you already know Brett Kavanaugh is Bad News; but we’ve all gotta step up our game to keep the Handmaid’s Helper off the Supreme Court – it’s THAT important. Kavanaugh has a record against abortion rights, consumer & environmental, and common sense gun safety. Most troubling – he has said that a sitting President should be exempt from criminal investigation and prosecution, including questioning by prosecutors and defense counsel. No wonder Trump chose him! It’s up to the Senate, and they need to hear from you: Please call Senators Feinstein (202) 224-3841 and Harris (202) 224-3553 and ask them to do everything they can to block this nominee who would gut Roe v. Wade and give someone like Trump even greater executive power. Our article.

What to say:

My name is _____, my zip code is ____, and I’m a member of Indivisible.  I’m calling about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. He would be a threat to our rights, our environment, and our protections against a dangerous administration. I want Senator ____ to speak out against Kavanaugh’s nomination, to vote against him, and to persuade other Senators to vote against him.
